Well despite the weather I made good time to our overnight halt in San Angelo, Texas. The rain and wind were TERRIFYING . I’ve been driving for many, many years and I’ve never had wind almost push me off the road. I also passed at least four vehicles that had wiped out due to rain, two of which were heavily damaged and blocking at least one lane. All pickup trucks. Bad news regardless.
Also this. Looks not bad but I was fighting to keep control of the car. Passing at 70 mph. Saw the puddle, hence the slowdown, but too late into the pass to ditch to the other lane. Poo came out.

Oh fuck that shit . I got caught out in similar in Texas.
In the Porsche.
Apparently, Texas doesn’t believe in rain or drainage.

I've come close to being pushed off the road by wind a few times. Can confirm, scariest experience ever. You have zero control over the situation. At least when a semi locks their brakes next to you on a cloverleaf you can take a bit of comfort knowing it's your fault you're in that situation, but random 70mph gusts against you? Fuck that.

Had the same thing happen in OKC tonight on the way into work, big puddle and didn’t see it until too late. Poo came out as well.

As you’d imagine it rains a lot where I am and passing trucks in heavy wind and rain can cause white outs as you pass the trailers wheels. My colleague used to dread passing trucks in this. Then I ap plied a glass coating to the windscreen and no more white out.
It can be stressful driving through weather like this, sometimes keeping your wheels turned into the wind slightly just to keep going forward in a straight line. But what a rush when you get out of it.

If it makes you feel any better...years ago when we had the old G60 Patrol and I was still a youthful idiot...I came across water across the road on a crossing I knew well and gunned it.
I was thinking hero water crossing spray.
Turned out the water was deeper than I expected and both the footwell and firewall air flaps were wide open...
Not only did I manage to drench myself and the interior of the truck but I also bent a steering rod and promptly pirouetted off the road. Nearly broke my thumb as well...and I did actually shit myself.

I do not. Or rather I do and then immediately get stuck.
